Norfolk Virginia
18th November 1865

Col O Brown
Chf Freedmen's Bureau, State of Virginia
Richmond

Col - I respectfully renew my application for the restoration of the property belonging to my brother (dec'd.) and myself, situated in Lynnhaven Bay, in the County of Princess Anne, State of Virginia.-

I have complied with all the requirements of the Government looking to a restoration of citizenship, and submit herewith papers, confirmatory of title to said property - that its value is less than Twenty thousand Dollars $20,000 = that no action has been taken by the Government before its Courts with a view to confiscation, and that my case is no no wise embrace among the exceptions of the President's Proclamation of Amnesty of the 9th of May 1865.

I would add that the Freedmen, Women & children upon this property, are sought for by the citizens around them, as laborers &c &c, so that if they will, comfortable and profitable homes can be secure for all, whenever the Government will order the removal of such of them as will not accept employment of myself -

I am ready and willing to purchase whatever produce is still upon the premises belonging to the Government and earnestly urge that immediate possession and control of the property be allowed me that I may be enabled to make necessary arrangements for the return of my homeless family before the rigors of Winter shall be upon us -

I am Col Your Obt Serv't

Subscribed and sworn to before me the undersigned a Notary Public for the City of Norfolk Virginia this 18th day of Novr 1865. As witness my hand and seal of office.
