The undersigned respectfully represents - That he is the owner of a tract of land in York County in this vicinity. That in the spring of the year 1862 he, being then 57 years old, removed from home with his family (consisting chiefly of females) - That he did not reside upon the land but in the town of Williamsburg - That the time of his removal immediately preceded the occupation of this region - called the Peninsula - by the Federal troops, and that at no subsequent period could he have returned home until the cessation of hostilities, because that occupation was continuous.
