Norfolk Va April 4th 1864

Capt. Plato Post Q.M. will take possession of the property of the Norfolk Oil Company, belonging to Rebel Stockholders (undivided) and will afterward turn over the same to Maj. Morse, Special Agent US Treasury Dept by virtue of Gen'l ord, no 20 depart Va and N.C

Dear Maj Morse
Above is Copy Gen'l Wilds order he gave me he desires you & I to Agree & this order is to this End the portion of sale of the old Iron if I could only get a Portion Of it my Situation demands it and if you can expedite even the 500$ I Exhibited of my proportional interest. Enclosed is the copy of Deed of the Prest of Said Oil Co Peyton &c & there is no danger of these Rebels of Ever showing their faces here. My family is actually suffering & I have lost my whole fortune by Rebel villainy & it may be long time before I can get pay from our Gov't for Losses &c
