Beall decd formally of Norfolk who had occupied the house for several years as the tenant of Jno Southgate and after his death as tenant [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] under me as Trustee of Mrs Johns. She left Norfolk in March 1861 from sheer necessity and went to her Brother-in-law's in King Geo Co. leaving the furniture in my possession as a security for the rent, which was largely in arrears to both Estates exceeding in fact the value of the furniture. I allowed the furniture to remain in the house and in November 1863 rented the house and furniture to Captain Tomlin of the U.S. Army who paid me one months rent and was afterwards forbidden by the Treasury Agent to continue to pay me. I fear there is but little of it left now, but I would ask that whatever remains may be restored to me. Mrs Beall is now in Prince Geo Co Md. She has no interest whatever in said furniture, (now I fear of very little value) beyond its application to the payment of the rent due me as Trustee of Mr. Johns. and that due the Estate of Mr. Southgate.
