former residence in Norfolk, No 31 Granby Street in the keeping of her sister who continued to reside in the said house until the 1st of January 1864 when she was turned out of it by the said B.H. Morse since which time the house and furniture have been used and occupied by various Government Officers and it is feared and believed that the furniture has been greatly abused and some of it removed contrary to the assurances made at the time of the seizure.
Now I respectfully ask as a matter of right and justice that all the property be restored to me and also that the net rents reserved by the Treasury Agent be paid over to me because it was illegally and without due authority seized and taken possession of under an erroneous constriction of the orders and laws prescribing his duties or in ignorance of the facts. For how can this property be held as abandoned when it is found in the same possession and custody in which it always was, and lawfully so, that is to say in my possession and custody which the legal tittles in me as Trustee and no one but myself authorized and empowered to
