the Rebellion - I am over fifty three years of age and never could have participated in the rebellion from my age. I have done nothing during the rebellion that was in any way detrimental to the Federal Government or in any way militated against the dignity of the laws of the Nation. I was a quiet humbly citizen seeking no office nor aspiring to any position. I am a loyal citizen of the United States rendering [[?]] my allegiance to the government and claiming the benefit of its protection. I have complied with all the orders of the Government and with the proclamations of the Executive. I have taken the oath of allegiance prescribed by the late President in his proclamation of the 8th Dec: 1863. and also the Amnesty Oath prescribed by the Proclamation of President Johnson of the 29th May 1865, nor am I embraced in any of the exceptions mentioned in said Proclamation - My property is not now nor was it in 1860 worth twenty thousand Dollars. I therefore pray that my farm as above described may be restored to me and not appropriated by the Bureau as I am informed it is about to be as an abandoned tract of land. There is nothing in this
