Abraham Lincoln, of date Decr. 8th, 1863 & that of his Excellency, Andrew Johnson of the 29th May, 1865, and that they are true & loyal citizens of the U. States & intend, in good faith, to support, defend & protect the Constitution & laws thereof.

Your petitioners further represent, that said property, belonging to said association, has only been taken possession of, as abandoned property (and that too while it was in the occupancy of the tenants of your petitioners) and that no proceedings, by way of libel have ever been instituted against it, & that the U. States taxes, on said property, have been fully & duly paid & your petitioners hold the receipt for the same.

In consideration of the foregoing facts your petitioners respectfully ask that the said property, belonging to said association be returned to them and that such other & further relief be afforded as to you may seem just & proper.
