I Richard Taylor of the Borough of Norfolk in Virginia being sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit:

First, I give to my beloved wife Eliza the lot at the corner of Free Mason and Duke streets which I purchased of Cowper's trustees and on which my family residence is situated. To have and to hold the same with all the buildings and improvements thereon to my said wife during her life and from and after her decease I devise the said lot buildings and improvements to Albert Allmand, John Taylor, Walter H Jones and Cornelius C Taylor to have and to hold to them and to the survivors and survivor of them upon the following trusts that is to say to convey the same as soon as my be in fee simple to my daughter Laura Ann and Sarah Alexina; or if the said trustees or the survivors or survivor of them shall deem it more to the interest and advantage of my said daughters, to sell the said premises and appurtenances and to invest the proceeds in public stock of the United States or of the Bank of the United States, one half thereof in the name and as the property of my daughter Laura Ann and the other half in the name and as the property of my daughter Sarah Alexina. 

I Henry M. Bowden Clerk of the County of the Corporation of the City of Norfolk State of Virginia do certify that the above is a true abstract from the Will of R. Taylor dec'd which was proved and admitted to probate on the 5th day of July 1827 and is of record in this office.
