Col. O.S. Brown Chief of Freedman's Bureau of the State of Virginia

The undersigned petitioner F.A. Walke aged 33 years, native of city of Norfolk Va now a resident of same city; respectfully asks the restoration of the house and lot situated at the corner of Main and Commerce Streets Norfolk Va. This property was libelled as abandoned property, but it has never been on trial, as the enclosed certificate from U.S. District Clerk will show. The enclosed certificate of the Clerk of the Court of the city of Norfolk, also shows that the property still remains on the record of said city, in the name of the petitioner. The petitioner F.A. Walke went into the service of the Confederate states, April 19th 1861, as private in a company of Infantry, raised in the city of Norfolk, some time before the breaking out of the war. He remained in that position until September 1861
