Dear Sir
Presuming upon an acquaintance with you, made during your residence in this City, I beg leave to ask your attention to a communication addressed to you on yesterday by my Father, Mr William Walke
             
Being an old gentleman (in his 80th year) I have acted as his agent for several years past and am perfectly familiar with all the facts in regard to the property about which he wrote to you
             
The House in question was taken by the Military & used in part by a Chaplain for more than 12 mos when he was required by the Qr Master (Col Blunt) to find other quarters & the property turned over to Major Hudson Treasy Agt.  Upon my application to the latter, he directed that it should be erased from his books & turned it over to me as agt for my Father - this was done by his Chief Clerk in my presence. He then stated that nothing more was necessary
               
My Father has received the rents from that time (June last) - but was informed yesterday by his Tenant that she had received orders from Capt Johnson your Asst at this place to pay to him all back rents & proposing to lease to her the
