City of Williamsburg}
State of Virginia} To wit.

   This day personally appeared before me Richd M Bucktrout an Alderman & Ex officio a Justice of the peace for the City aforesaid Robt. M. Garrett who being duly sworn deposed as follows: That he was born in this City and has resided here ever since his birth that he was residing here at the time of the breaking out of the War & has remained there during the continuance of the same & up to its close that he is a near neighbor of Dr Robt. P. Waller, our respective residences being very near & our farms separated in part only. by a road & in part contiguous to each other. He further deposes that he knows Dr. Robert Wilkins and the Bloxtens were overseers or managers on Dr. Waller's farms at the time of the commencement of hostilities in the late War as they had been for many years previous as is stated in the deposition of Robt. Wilkins said deposition of Wilkins this deponent has read & to the best of his knowledge and belief truly states that the facts & circumstances contained therein. He has been an eye witness to the desolation produced by war on the estates of Dr. Waller as well as on his own & other farms in this country he knows Dr. Waller has been for many years infirm (being several years over three score & ten) and requiring assistance to get in & out of his carriage whenever he visited his farms, that the Dr has been in the habit of spending his summer months
