Col. Brown [[strikethrough]] Capt Wilder [[strikethrough]] Superintendent of the Freedmans Bureau

Dear Sir I have a tract of land in York County on Paquoson River of five hundred acres which was libeled and procedeings initiated against it, but not sold; last November by the consent of L.H. Chandler Esqre the libel and all proceedings was dismissed against it by my paying the cost of said procedings &c which I have paid to the clerk of the U.S. district court at Norfolk; he gave me a receipt for the money paid, and a copy of the proceedings. The same land being in the hands of the Freedmans Bureau and colored people on it. I most respectfully ask you to give me an order to take full possession of my farm as above named and also my personal property. I am now without a house except a very small leaky one just to stay in untill I can do better; in [[?]] circumstances and a wife and seven children
