taken the several oaths required by the Amnesty Proclamations as soon as he found that [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] was required - That he has not been in the service of the Confederate states, but has been quietly living on his farm up the Country & that these Lands, the possession of which I now ask for, were never abandoned by him, but on the contrary were in the possession of Loyal agents of his until they were freed away -
