To the Hon: the Sec'ty of the Treasury U.S.

The undersigned respectfully represents, that Dr George Wilson in 1861 died, leaving several lots of land in the city of Norfolk, on the West side of Bank St numbered upon the houses built there on 28/30, 32, 34, 36, 40. five tenements, which by his will, a copy of which is herewith offered, were devised to Geo. R. Wilson his son, and to his daughter Mary Anne Garnett, (widow) and Georgiana Wayne, (also a widow) as by said will specified - 

That said Dr Geo Wilson resided at Surrey County Va for many years before his death, & at that time that the said Mary Anne resided with him, that the said Georgiana had no fixed residence for many years last part, having been the wife of Lieut. Wayne of the Navy, & now his widow, and that the said George R Wilson was a resident with his family at Norfolk, but chiefly engaged in business in Illinois and some time in Richmond, at which last place he was at the time of the evacuation of Norfolk in May 1862-

That soon after that evacuation, the above specified property was taken possession of by a Mr Morse claiming to act on the part of the U. States, rented it out and received the rents, as your
