York County to wit.} 

William B. Jones who was Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts of the County of Warwick & State of Virginia, for many years previous to the war, and at the time of its inauguration; who was the custodian of the records of said Courts, this day personally appeared before me and made oath that the Land Records of said County Court showed Humphrey H. Wynne by deeds of record in said Court to be the owner of Five Hundred and fifty one acres of land in the County of Warwick and that said Humphrey H. Wynne has not sold, conveyed or transferred the same, and that the Land Records of said County were destroyed by fire in the City of Richmond Va where they were deposited for safety.

Given under my hand this 5th day of October AD 1865.
