Your petitioner Thos. G. Wynne, having taken the amnesty oath of President Johnson's proclamation, (Copy filed marked A), and being a true and loyal citizen of the United States, most respectfully submits the following petition. That he is the legal owner in fee of a tract of land called "Green Mount", situate in the lower end of James City County, Virginia, containing 373 acres, and bounded on the North by Martin Hundred Road, South and west by the farms of R. C. Wynne and Geo. H. Blow, And on the East by Skiff's Creek. As fully appears by the Certificate of the clerk of said County herewith filed, marked B. In the Spring of 1862, Your petitioner was compelled to leave his home on said farm with his family, in consequence of active military operation, and removed for safety near Danville, Virginia, where he is now living as a tenant by the year. In April last, soon after the cessation of hostilities, he returned to take possession of his farm, but was unable to do so, by reason of
