its being occupied by freedmen- said land, however, has not been confiscated, as is fully shown by the Certificate of the Clerk of the United States district court at Norfolk, also filed herewith as a part of this petition, marked C.
 
Your petitioner now shows, that he has been pardoned by Taking the Amnesty oath of President Johnson's proclamation, and that he does not come within any of the fourteen exceptions therein numerated, as appears fully by the certificate marked D herewith filed.
 
Your petitioner further shows that, at the end of the present year he will have to give up and vacate the Tenement he now occupies and enjoys, and that, he has no place to abide in the future unless he can recover his farm aforesaid. Under these circumstances, he prays to be allowed to recover the immediate possession of his farm "Green Mount", and also the rent therefor that may accrue to the United States government this year- And your commissioner will ever pray &c.
