then Supt of Schools for this district. The number of pupils Mr Mason then had was very small mostly young women, Mr M then organized a pay school for which I would not furnish a building when I had two good free schools
All schools were closed in pursuance of orders from H'd Qrs of Dist on March 24"/66 to prevent the spread of small pox then very prevalent.
