Respty returned with the information that this man Geo Parker came to me some time ago with this complaint and I investigated his case for him. I find that Aug 19th 1859 Lucy Howell a free woman (the same that Parker claims to have been his wife) bought a piece of land about ten acres. and the deed was made to her and her children (naming them) that soon after she died and the county court administered upon her estate settled it and appointed Jas M Campbell guardian for the children and the property is in his hands by an order from the court. Parker was never married to her and did not purchase the land thought he might have had something to do with providing the pay for it. but it is only known to himself.
I could see no reason to disturb the order of the court in the case. and informed him that if he thought the property was not properly taken care of or that the children were ill treated he could complain to the county court. and they were bound to look into it. and take such action as might be necessary.

If Geo Parker will legitimatize the children (which is necessary before he can exercise control over them according to a recent act passed by the state legislation) he can apply to the Civil Court to be appointed guardian of the children.
