Respty returned.  We are unable to find any cases of desecration of graves as spoken of within.  We do not believe the citizens have ploughed over the graves, but around them.
We do find however, all along the lines, particularly in the vicinity of Petersburg and at Reams Station, that the bones and skulls of Soldiers are scattered about loosely, having been exhumed by the rain washing away the little earth with which they were covered.
Would urgently request and recommend that something be quickly done to properly care for these remains.
