by the Asst Com'r
1st In the case of the boy Wm although he is of an age which entitled him to choose his guardian. he was not consulted in the case. but bound without his knowledge or consent.
2d The boy is a faithful industrious lad. capable of earning more than his support. and it seems to me unjust. that he should be bound to work for several years for his board and clothes.
3d Irregularity in the Indenture. Capt Clark being named as the guardian in the body of the instrument and the signature being that of Capt Barnes.
4h Because the boy is greatly dissatisfied and feels himself to be a victim to injustice.
The same recommendation is made in regard to the Indenture of Sarah Frances Bond Sally Bond and Mary Bond.
1st Because of similar irregularity as that already mentioned. and because the Indenture of Sally Bond & Sarah Bond are made to expire within 3 months of each other. The girls being children of the same mother cannot arrive at the age of 18 years within three months of each other.
2d Because Mr Bond does not desire to retain the girls in case the Indenture of Wm is cancelled.
3d The friends of the children are able and willing to support them and decide to do so.
Mr Bond claims that uncompensated labor on the part of the boy is necessary to remunerate him in the care of the girls. The Supt is of the opinion that girls barred until the age of 18 years. remunerate the person to whom they are bound. for all care and expenses they occasion without further compensation- The boy John Bond is dead.
The case is submitted for the opinion of the Asst Com'r and instructions requested.
