Respectfully returned to Bvt Lt Col James A. Bates A.A.A.G Bureau RF & AL with the request that the wood may be retained for use of the Bureau. as the Qr Mr Dept has no facilities for its transportation either to Norfolk or Fort Monroe and being acquainted with the locality of the wood am convinced that the hire of Men. Teams and Lighters for its transportation would cost the Gov't more than wood is purchased for by contract.
