0060 King george. Co. Virginia August 4th /66 Lieut W.G Roberts Dear Sir The overseers had a meeting august Court and think the freedmen have the same right with the whites so long as they pay their levy. We will furnish all of the needy in corn it being all we furnish the whites with at present. The court has aded on 500 dollars more towards the surport of the poor and we shall aply it to both classes. Out of the 15 hundred dollars we shall have some 7 or 8 hundred dollars after paying of old debts which we will apply to the best advantage we have got the houses to repair out of that sum at the poors house if there should be any means left it will be applyed to meat & clothing there are a number of applicants in the country for corn Very Respt yours.
