The sum of $250 is the whole amount that has been paid into our hands from the county, since our organization last fall, and we are informed that we can receive no more until the court makes another levy - which will be in May - from this small sum, we have to put some indispensable repairs on the parish farm, and provide food, clothing &c for the paupers. So that you will readily understand that we could not entertain very largely if called upon, but so far, we have as I remarked before, rejected no one.

Of the number received, on the Parish farm during the whole time, nine were negroes and one a white man - now remaining in all, six five colored, and one white.

It is not doubted that the Court, whose duty it is under the law, at the May term next, which is the first regular court since our organization for a purpose of that kind, will make an ample levy under the law, to provide not only for all the poor entitled to support from the county, as well to put the parish farm in that condition which it now requires from causes
