Dear Sir
Your letter of enquiry of the 29th March last to the Board of Overseers of the poor of Craig County, has been rec'd and considered by the board. 

No levy has been made by the court of this county for the support of paupers for the year ending on the 31st day of March 1866. An order was made by said court at the February Term 1866, requiring all legal expenditures from and after the Sept Term 1866. The date of reorganization of the court to be paid out of the Levy of 1866.

I The Board of Overseers will undertake to provide for all destitute persons, as required by the laws of the state but not having received the acts of the Legislature are not prepared to say that all colored persons are embraced, free persons of color under former laws were provided for.

II The extent and character of maintenance or assistance has always been governed by circumstances, where parties able to work partial, and unable to do so full support.

III. The board are not advised of what will be required of them under the new regulations, but will be governed by the laws in regard to indigent persons.
