which charge excludes the majority of colored children in the town; taken this into consideration, a subscription list has been started and an educational association organized for the purpose of making this a free-school and the prospect of the success of the enterprise is very fair. There is but one other School in the Division aided by benevolent association, [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] that is located at the Midlothian Coal-pits and has only been in operation a very short time.

There is a slight improvement in the Sanitary condition of the freed people in Manchester, the condition in the country is good.
