Broadneck has been discontinued for want of sufficient support.  It closed the first week of the present month.  The school at Hickory Hill will close the last of October, the teacher being desirous of resuming his studies.  Genl Wm. C. Wickham, upon whose land this school has been kept, is intending soon to build a school house at his own expense for the accommodation of the col'd people in his employment, and on the adjoining Plantations, Mr Waller, the present teacher, promises to return at that time and continue the school.  He is well liked and a useful teacher.  I have spoken to several prominent citizens in different parts of the County, with a view of enlisting them in the cause of col'd education.  They express a willingness to cooperate in the work, and if suitable teachers can be found, I am hopeful that the necessary buildings can be rented and several schools more soon organized.  I have reported thirteen (13) localities in the County where col'd schools should be established.  

The great want is suitable teachers.  In many places the necessary buildings cannot be obtained.  An amount of from $35. to $50. of outside aid, would
