its teachings they have inaugurated an ingenious policy of granting equal rights to all; how would it have been with these pretended friends of the colored man had a democratic President been elected. Contrast their action in such and event with their seeming acquiescence now and we have the full weight of their loyalty, Let there be the least encouragement given dis-loyalty to subvert the will of loyalty and we know not where persecution of union men and freedmen would end. Freedmens schools in the Division are being well attended but not as self-supporting as we would desire to see them, I believe however that most of the parents who have children attending these schools give according to their means. With reference to the work of temperance among the freedmen I have nothing of interest to report.
