The factories of this city gave but little employment in the summer season and but few have had employment so constant as to save anything for support through the winter.
The city Colored Schools under the auspices of the Penns. B.F.R.U.C. of Philadelphia, are in a very prosperous condition under the immediate Superintendence of Mr J E Yoder assisted by Misses Whittaker, Phelps, Spencer and Harvey.  The schools in the Country Districts that were in session have been well attended and prosperous.  The Howard Educational Association of this city, formed during the month, enlists the colored people in the welfare of the schools and promises to become a source of revenue for their support
Their churches are well attended and the strictest decorum observed
