Courts, to the Civil authorities - I have not met with any instances, in which, any disposition was betrayed in the manner of the Court or Bar to deprive the Freedmen of their just rights & privileges. 

Whether he appears as prosecutor or defendant every reasonable faculty is rendered by which to enable him to make his case &c.

I believe that the course of action, which is being adopted towards the colored people by the Civil authorities of this County has contributed to a great extend towards convincing the Freedmen that their rights of person and property will be protected - They see from the manner in which the trials are conducted that the colored people have precisely the same priveleges as parties to an action, that the white people have.
