And although the Civil Authorities, are not anxious to try cases in which colored persons appear as parties when the cases are once brought before the court, they are fairly + impartially tried.

In the conviction, named in the accompanying paper the evidence was clear and conclusive and I did not hear a colored person express a doubt as to the guilt of the party convicted - Freedmen are permitted to look on, + as a general thing keep good order and take great interest in the proceedings. As far as my observation has extended, I have had no instance, within my notice in this County, in which the authorities failed to heat the colored people. "with impartiality and fairness" and where the "law respecting their testimony was not carried out in good faith"
