Monthly Report of 2d Lieut Jacob Roth, Asst Superintendent Bureau of R.F. & A.L. for the Sub District County of Louise State of Virginia, as required in Circular No. 10. C.S. dated Head Quarters Assistant Commissioner, for the State of Va. Richmond, Va. March 10 1866, in relation to the enjoyment of the Freedmen of the right granted them, by the Act of the Legislation, of Virginia passed Feb'r 27, 1866. - for the month ending September 30" 1866.

I have not heard of any cases, having been brought before any of the magistrates of the County, during the Month of September, in which a freed person had been a partie, as far as concerning the county, and much more the Circuit Court, of Louisa Co. held at this place from the 20th to the 26 of this month by Judge Sheffey, of Augusta Co. I have the honor to state that the freedmen were treated strictly and entirely without any prejudice. In this court Judge Sheffey has given an important good example, to the Commonwealth of Louisa Co. and where hereafter I hope
