the boy's aunt to take him again to the office of Squire Head's and get the warrant. In a little time she called with the boy at Head's office, but to no effect, as that functionary again refused her the warrant, giving to me his excuse for so doing, that the woman, the aunt of the boy, told him again that she agreed with Mr. Layton to stop the whole matter. But the boy's aunt denies telling him this. I then told Head as the offence had been enacted by Layton, I meant to have him brought to justice and therefore requested a warrant for his arrest, which, up to the present time has not been issued. And there is no probability that there will be any action taken by the civil authorities in the case. I have done all that I can to induce the magistrates here to take action in this case, but to no effect.
