In regard to the action of the courts of this county. I have the honor to report as follows. Before the county court no cases of freedmen were examined. In the circuit court several important cases were tried and same presentments were made by the grand jury of freemen made by the grand jury of freedmen who were doing business at this place without license from the state authorities John Wm Henry, a freedboy was found guilty of having committed burglary, and sentenced to the penitentiary for ten years. The sentence seemed a long one. Andrew Hill accused of burglary was not appeased against and has been returned to jail for another six months, his case is a hard one. he was anxious trial and over
