Detailed Report of the manner in the order contained in Circular No.10 CS Asst. Comrs. Off. Va by restoring to the state authorities jurisdiction in criminal cases over colored persons has resulted. Reported by Lieut. J.B. Clinton Asst. Supt. Dinwiddie Co. Va. for the month ending Nov 30th 1866.

At the session of the County Court in this county for the month above written the following named Freedmen were arraigned and tried on the following charges and specifications. 1st Jas. Scott - Charge, misdemeanor, specification. In this, that he did unlawfully but not feloniously shoot one Hog, the property of J.P. Simon, valued at $8.00. Findings of the court. Guilty, fined ten dollars and discharged from custody.

2nd Wm. Valentine. Charge misdemeanor specification in this that he did on the 1st day of Aug 1866, take steal and carry away one shote, the property of Allen Pettis, valued at $5.00. Findings Guilty. Sentenced to one months imprisonment in the County jail and forty lashes, twenty at the commencement of his term and twenty at its close.

3rd Henry Harris. Charge misdemeanor. Specification In this that he did steal one shote, the property of E.H. Allen. Findings Guilty. Sentenced to one months imprisonment in the county jail and twenty lashes.

4th Alex Harris. Charge misdemeanor. Specification In this that he did steal one hog the property of S.D. Allen valued at $19.00. Findings Guilty. Sentenced to two months imprisonment in the county jail and twenty lashes.

5th Wm Flowers. Charge misdemeanor. Specifications In this that he did shoot one cow the property of D.G. Williams valued at $20.00 Findings. Guilty and fined fifty dollars.
