Judge decided that it was not a Bailable case and refused to admit the parties to Bail they having applied to the county court at the time of their trial for Bail which was refused by the said county court.

The grounds upon which Bail was demanded was that the Jail in which they were and are now confined is a log building tightly daubed with mud or mortar twelve (12) feet by twelve (12) feet with but one door and one small window, with only the one room and that occupied by five male prisoners men grown to manhood both black and white.

Revolting as it is to have two (2) girls not twenty years old confined in a jail with five men the Judge refused to release the girls on Bail. So far as the trial is concerned for Larceny, they had a fair trial and were very ably defended by learned
