Reports one McKayer going to the house of Wash Brown (freedman) and taking therefore without authority a horse the property of said Brown, McKayer giving as his reason that the horse was taken from him by Sheridans forces in 1865. On the case being referred to Mr Harris a Magistrate at Lunenburg Co he declined to take any action, giving as his reason that "he hadn't time to attend to damned niggers business he was too busy" "with his crop."
