At the Dinwiddie Court one civil case was tried, by the consent of parties this was referred to justice Thos Boisean, and Lt Clinton, (who had been summoned as a witness in the case). They gave a verdict for the plaintiff, Major Jones (col'd) for $286.59, against P. G. Jones, deft. The magistrates seemed more inclined to do what was right and also to ask what I thought was right than I have ever seen them.
