State of Virginia Richmond Va General: I have the honor to report in compliance to circular No 10. dated Head Qrs Ass't Com'r. Richmond Va March 12th 1866 as follows: There has been but one case tried in my Sub=Dist at which I have had complaint made by Freedmen that injustice had been done them This is the case of Francis Amos vs. William Wallace both parties of Richmond Co Va. I think great injustice was done Francis Amos and that notice should be taken of it by the removal of the two Magistrates who tried the case. (over)

In answer to above, no. It is a similar function to writing
"fol
-lows" in modern English. Simply transcribe it as a full word without any "-/=".
