riding, and caused the animal to run a way from danger, Cox, continuing to [[?]] his pistol as the Colored man ran away. Cox was immediately arrested and committed to jail, where he still is. He was tried on on the 24th inst, by the Superior Court, and acquitted, on the ground of insanity, which I think was [[pretty?]] well established, at the trial, but returned to jail, and is, I am told, to be sent to the insane Asylum, at Staunton Va. I would respectfully suggest that, the officer at Staunton, be instructed to enquire, ere long, of the officers of the Asylum, at that place, what the condition of the man was when brought there, as it is possible that, his insanity was nothing more than a plan concocted to clear him.
