0648 Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and A Lands Head Quarters A.S.A.C. 2d Div 8th Sub Dist Va. Abingdon Va. Aug 25th 1867. Bvt Brig Genl O. Brown Asst Comr General, I have the honor to make the following report of the Administration of Civil Justice in my Div comprising the Counties of Washington Russell Buchanan Scott Wise and Lee for the month of August 1867 as follows. Civil Justice is Administred impartially by the Civil Courts in all cases White and Colored. There has been two cases acted upon by the Military Comr Viz one charging the County Court of Washington County, at its May term of levying a Tax of Thirty Three Hundred Dollars (33.000$) to pay Doctors of the Twon [Town] of Abingdon for Services rendered in Confederate Hospitals at that place during the War. The Charge was not sustained The other case was that of Andrew Ball of the County of Russell who petioned [petitioned] Maj Genl
