Bvt. Maj. Garrick Mallery
Ass't Adjt. Genl.

Major,

In compliance with Par V Cir No 10. Hd. qrs. Ass't Comr dated Richmond Va March 12 1866. I have the honor to report that the following trials were held this month in Matthews Co.

Wm Roy. (cold) Larceny, in stealing two pigs - found guilty and sentenced to Penitentiary for twelve months - it being the second offence.

Robert Morgan (cold) Larceny in stealing a pig - found guilty; sentence County jail - one month.

"Sam" (cold) House-breaking and larceny - acquitted

The prisoners were ably defended and to the best of my judgment had impartial trials.

There were no trials in Gloucester Co. in which Freedmen were concerned.

Very Respy
