At the election held on the 22nd inst, a disturbance of the peace occured at Christiansburg between white and colored, which for a short time, had the appearance of a general riot, but was promptly suppressed by the power invested in me, as Military Commissioner, and the energetic action of Sheriff Francis and his deputy - W'm H Ragan, who with the constable Sullivan discharged their duties faithfully, and thus averted what probably might have resulted in serious consequences.

At Price's Forks another disturbance occurred by a number of persons becoming intoxicated and disorderly, immediately at the closing of the Polls. The Constable of the District was on hand, and did what he could to keep the peace, with the exception of organizing a force and making arrests. The affray however passed off without any Serious consequences. The parties implicated will be presented at the next regular term of the county court for this county. A case of crippling a colored man for life was recently tried in the Pulaski County Court, and resulted in favor of the freed man, to whom damages were awarded
