Bvt. Brig. Gen. O. Brown.
Asst. Comr Dist of Va
General.
I have the honor to inform you that at the December term of the New Kent. Co. Court. there were no cases tried in which the rights of Freedmen were involved at the Charles City County Court, the following cases came up
1 The Commonwealth of Va vs. Henry Jenkins (cold) - already reported
2 The Commonwealth of Va vs. Billy Pearce (cold) charge misdemeanor
3 The Commonwealth of Va vs Moses Binford (cold)
The two latter cases were tried on the second day of the court. and as I returned to New Kent. on the evening of the first day, because of the difficulty at that time in crossing the Chickahoming. I did not learn the verdict of the jury in those two cases -- Very Respectfully. Your Obt. Svt
