Bureau of R.F. and A. L. Hd. Qrs. Asst. Sub Asst. Com'r.
3rd Division, 8th Sub Dist. Va. Christiansburg Va.
November 30th 1867.

Bvt Brig. Genl. O. Brown
Asst. Commissioner.

General - I have the honor to make the following report of the administration of civil justice in the counties comprising this Division - Montgomery, Pulaski and Giles, for the past month.

The case of certain Freedmen, twelve in number referred to in my report for September and special report of Sept. 11th forwarded to the General Com'dg Sub Dist. of Lynchburg, in which they were charged with whipping a colored man by the name of Goff, and running him out of the county for his political sentiments; but which was proven to be false: that it was on account of his gross licentiousness with another man's wife - came up for trial at the November term of the county court for Montgomery County.
