In the case of McNorton vs Preston referred to in Several recent reports, a compromise was effected between the parties, under the Sanction of the General Com'dg Sub District of Lynchburg. Further proceedings were therefore discontinued.

The case of Andrew Oliver "Colored" vs Preston (Waller R) referred to in connection with McNorton's Case, has been delayed, on account of the failure of Mr. Preston to appear in his own defence. Have given him until Monday next to produce his witnesses. Failing to do so, I shall forthwith render judgement in favor of Oliver, as I am fully satisfied that Mr Preston had no just cause of refusing his grain at the mill.

In the case of Pratt charged with the shooting of a colored man on the 2nd day of July last, in Pulaski County - no knowledge of his where-abouts has yet been ascertained. His Brother, who was then living in one of the western States, and where it was supposed Young Pratt had fled, has returned to his Home.
