the "general condition of Bureau affairs in this Sub Dist." I will therefore in this report state, in brief, that the accused was tried by a jury before the County Court and was found and sentenced by the jury to I think three years imprisonment.

The Court subsequently set the verdict aside and a new trial was ordered on the ground the verdict was against the evidence.

When the case was again called up in the County Court on the fourth Monday in Feb. and before the jury had been empanelled Mr. Tutwiler the able counsel of the accused moved that the court order a nol prosequi to be entered and the girl was discharged after an unjust imprisonment of seven months.

I am not aware of any pending criminal cases, except that of a colored man now in Goochland Co. jail for breaking into and stealing from a store and the case of Thompson also in the same jail awaiting trial for the murder of Capt. Wilson's servant. No complaints of personal violence have been made at my office
