As far as I can judge, had it been white men arranged for the same offence, it is my candid opinion, a verdict of not guilty would have been adjudged to them. In the case of Monroe Wilson "freed-man" tried at the June term of the Montgomery County Court, and convicted of being an accessory in stealing a horse, it is thought his sentence is too severe, after considering all the facts adduced at the trial. He is to serve twelve years in the Penitentiary. Several cases referred for the action of the Military Commissioners during the past Month have been satisfactorily adjusted.
Please advise, should you think proper if any action is necessary to be taken
in the Goff case.
I am very Respectfully
