I have the honor in compliance with Circular No 10, Series of 1866 Hd Qrs Asst Comr Va. to report that I have only case of injustice to inform you of and that is against R.H. Waddill of this Co for the murder of Henry Clay (cold) 

The evidence went to show that Waddill and Clay were in a potatoe patch together, and Waddill was heard to say "Be off with you " and then raised a hoe, and put it against Clay's brest and pushed him off. They were then seen scuffling and Clay fell  Waddill had taken out his pocket knife and opened the little blade and struck him with it. it entered the lower ventricle of the heart producing death almost instantly. The nearest witness to them was 75 yards off.
