In compliance with Par VI. Circular No.10. Hd. Qrs. Asst. Comr Va. March 12" 1866, I have the honor to report the following cases tried by the Civil Authorities in First Division, in which colored persons were parties, viz:

1st.  Lucy Forge. col'd. vs. A. Latham (white).  This was a case of assault on the child of a colored woman, by a white man, with a stick: the aggressor entering the womans house and forcibly and violently laying hold of and beating the child with a stick, and shaking him by the hair of the head.

The case was tried by Mr Samuel L. Atwell without notice to me, and decision rendered against the colored woman for $1.66/100 costs.
